This policy covers the Legacy Academy website, student/parent portal, and mobile app. It explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can control it.
Information we collect
Account & profile
Your name, phone number, and role (student or parent), used to create and secure your portal account.
Academic records
Grades, homework, attendance, and level-test results tied to your enrollment.
Payment records
Tuition payments, payment plans, and balances, so you and the school office can track what's owed and paid.
Messages & AI tutor
Messages you send to your teacher or the school office, and your conversations with the AI tutor, so we can respond and improve the learning tool.
Reviews
If you choose to leave a review, its rating, text, and the display name you provide are shown publicly after moderation.
Device & app data
Basic technical data, such as your app version and a push-notification token, used only to deliver notifications to your device.
How we use your information
- To run the features you use — signing in, tracking your progress, taking payments, and letting you message your teacher or the school office.
- To create, secure, and manage your portal account, including verifying your identity when you sign in or reset your password.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising. The mobile app has no ad network or advertising SDK of any kind.
If you choose to link your Telegram account (entirely optional), we send notifications — like attendance or payment reminders — through Telegram's messaging service. This only happens if you link your account yourself.
Our public website and portal, when opened in a browser, may use anonymized web analytics (such as Google Analytics or Yandex Metrica) to understand site traffic. This does not apply to the mobile app, which includes no analytics or advertising tools.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our students and staff.
How long we keep it, and your rights
We keep your academic and messaging records while you're enrolled and for a reasonable period after. Payment and financial records are kept for the period required by applicable accounting and tax regulations, even after your account is deleted — this is a legal requirement for the school. You can request deletion of your account and data at any time.
Children's privacy
Legacy Academy teaches language learners of many ages, including minors. Portal accounts are set up with a parent or student phone number as part of enrollment, and parents can access their child's records through that account. We do not run targeted advertising to anyone, and we do not knowingly collect more data from a minor than is needed to provide their education.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) between your device and our servers. Passwords and one-time codes are stored as hashes, not plain text, and you can revoke active sessions if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision — please check back occasionally.
